Secret Phrase

I have challenged the students to try to get our parents to visit our blog to search for a secret word/phrase. Once you visit the blog, please post me a comment with the phrase "I saw the fly on the wall!" at the beginning of the comment. Those parents who post a comment by 8am on Friday, January 23 will earn their child a surprise.
I hope that you enjoy the first video. The beginning is a bit "chaotic" because, being the ingenious videographer that I am, I didn't realize that I hadn't turned of the recorder! Oh well, you know what they say - practice makes perfect. Have a great long weekend!

School Delay / Blog Comments

FYI-Alexander County Schools will operate on a two hour delay on Friday, January 16, 2009 due to the projected low temperatures and wind chill factors. I know the students who wait at the bus stop before daybreak are happy to hear that news! Bethlehem Elementary Students should not arrive prior to 9:30 am and no later that 10:00 am.

I am trying hard to upload the first Fly on the Wall video. I so far have not had much success. On the last try I thought things were uploading nicley until it wouldn't stop uploading! I will keep trying. Be patient. I won't give up until I have exhausted all efforts. Worse case scenario-I have to go to still photos.

If you would like to post a comment after one of my blog posts, click on the comment tab at the bottom of the blog. There will be an option to post a comment. Click and follow the guides. I would love to hear from you!!!!!!!!!

Mid Year Assessments

Baby is it cold outside! I love the snow BUT... the way I look at it - If is isn't going to snow, I am ready for SPRING! On that note, please make certain that your child leaves the house every morning with a warm winter coat. If we should have a fire drill, the bus or car should break down, or we have a bomb threat (Yes, that does happen.) your little one will be very chilly without appropriate clothing.
We have been very busy this week working to complete math and reading assessments in order to be ready for the release of report cards on January 26th. Your child should be working at home to learn to tie shoes. He/she should also know your house address (number, street name, city, and state) and a phone number in the event someone is "misplaced". These social communication skills are also assessed on the report card. I also will be holding the children to higher expectations with small motor skills ( handwriting, coloring, cutting, etc.) in the weeks to come.
We have enjoyed reading the book Snowballs by Lois Ehlert this week. Please remember to help your child fill the paper sack sent home this week with "stuff" to use for our snowman building project on Friday.
I have had one parent post a comment from a past blog and invite all of you to do so. I would love your feedback.
Look for the "Fly on the Wall" videos coming soon!

Until next post, have a great long weekend!

The children are adjusting nicely to re-entering school in the new year. This week we have been working hard on simple written composition and continuing with numeral recognition 0-20. We will spend a lot of our time over the next two weeks with assessments since the end of the nine weeks is quickly approaching and report cards will be distributed on January 26, 2009.
My husband bought me a new toy for Christmas - a FLIP camcorder. It is supposed to be real user friendly as far as uploading to the internet. Once I figure out how to do that AND once I get your permission to do so, I hope to video the children working in our classroom periodiacally and will post it on my blog for you to view. I thought many of you might enjoy seeing your child in action at school. You'll get a chance to be the "fly on the wall" so to speak. I will not publish anything to the blog until I get signed permission slips to do so. Look for those to come home in the next week or so.
