First Twenty Days Have Passed

It is hard to believe that 20 of our180 days together have already passed. I have seen so many changes in the students since August. There has been a lot of social, emotional, and academic growth going on! Life in kindergarten is good! I hope your family agrees.

The children have enjoyed working on activites centered around apples. We all loved eating the applie pie we made in class and sent off to the cafeteria for baking!

Over the next few weeks we will be learning about fire safety, fall, scarecrows, and pumpkins.

Congratualtions to:

Joshua - Scholar for the month of September

Wiliam - CItizen for the month of September

Kaylee and Gavin chosen Terrific Kids in September.

Hi gang! I can't believe how quickly the summer break is passing. I have recently spent close to two weeks with my family at Holden Beach trying to gear up for the new school year which is quickly approaching. We spent time playing in the sun and sand, the boys went fishing, we ate ice cream, and played some putt-putt. It was a very relaxing and special time to spend with my family. I hope that you all are preparing also by relaxing, having some fun, and staying in practice with your reading, writing, and math. I am a little disappointed that I haven't received any postcards, letters, or blog posts from you guys yet. :-( I know that you have had many fun and excitiing adventures and I would love to hear about those fun times. I hope to hear from you soon. Love and Hugs! XOXO

Wow! These past two weeks have passed so quickly. It is hard to believe that there is only 19 days of school left.

I hope you have marked your calendar for Kindergarten Graduation on Wednesday, June 10, 2009. The ceremony will be held in the school gymnasium and will begin at 8:30 am. You don't want to miss this.

We have planned some fun learning activites to hopefully keep the children "entertained" throughout the last two weeks of school. I am listing the upcoming events and the days they will take place below. I will be sending a more detailed list of what your child should bring and a brief description of what the days will involve sometime this week.

May 26 Bubble Day Children should bring their own bottle of bubbles and any bubble blowing device they would like. The bubbles and device should fit into your child's bookbag and be labeled with the child's name.

May 27 Frog Day The chldren will be jumping with joy over the fun froggy things we do this day. Wear something green or "froggy".

May 28 Beach Day Children will be asked to bring "water clothes and shoes" for a day at the Bethlehem Beach.

May 29 Ice Cream Sundae Day We will celebrate summer birthdays. If you would like to help supply toppings, please let me know.

June 1 Western Day Howdy Partner! Dress in your cowboy best.

June 2 Sports Day Wear your favorite team attire - ballcaps would be appropriate this day.

June 3 Chocolate Day Lots of surprises in store for you. Wear your class t-shirt.

June 4 Pizza Day

June 5 Watermelon Day We will have a seed spitting contest (provided I can find a watermelon with seeds)

June 8 Hawaiian Day Wear your Hawaiian clothes and we will eat fresh pineapple and do the Limbo

June 10 Kindergarten Graduation at 8:30am in the school gymnasium

End of Third Nine Weeks

I cannot believe that we have put three nine weeks of school behind us! Less than 50 days of school left! Hard to believe. I am proud of how the children have progressed. Isn't it amazing to see that "little light bulb" grow brighter and brighter?
I am looking forward to our trip to Baa Moo Farm on Friday. I hope the weather will cooperate. This is a wonderful trip and I wouldn't want the children to be disappointed. We will make the trip rain or shine, unless there are torential rains! The buses cannot be rescheduled at such a late notice and Baa Moo does not have another day that will accomodate such a large group. If weather permits and I have enough time, I will try to snap a few pictures and post them for you to see.
Report cards will be distributed on Monday. Remember as you review your child's marks that we are at the end of the 3rd nine weeks and the stakes have changed since the beginning of the semester. Children are expected on a daily basis to read, write, count and "cipher" on an independent level. YOUR CHILD SHOULD DEFINITELY KNOW HIS/HER ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER BY THIS POINT IN THE YEAR! Expectations for quality of work, work effort, and high expectations for behavior have also been points of focus this past nine weeks. We will push hard to get the absolute most out of the last weeks of school. Continue to work on the homework activites and if your child has not mastered reading and writing all 26 of the kindergarten sight words, that should be a major part of the homework each night.
Thanks to those of you who took the time to fill out and return the survey for Fundations. Your child should receive their little piece of bribery today. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!:-)

Vanuatu Pen Pals

Hi, gang! I am so excited. Guess what came through my email tonight? Pictures and a video from our pen pals in Vanuatu. I can't wait for you to get to school tomorrow so I can share with you. I will try to post a link to the video on the blog sometime this weekend so parents can see too. It has been a great week for penpals. At the end of last week we heard from our pen pals in Japan, the first of this week we heard from our pen pal in the Middle East, and then tonight from Vanuatu. WOW! When it rains - it pours. HOORAY!!!

Long Weekend-WooHoo!

Hi Kids! I hope you have enjoyed the sunshine this weekend! I understand that the weather is supposed to be warm for a few more days then back to cooler temperatures. Enjoy your days off on Monday and Tuesday. Don't forget to do your homework. Mrs. Ewing and I will turn the eggs while you are away. When you return on Wednesday, we will be enjoying the Pan Jive band. Bring your dollar for the show. Oh, yeah! Remember to bring your ball schedules when you get them so I can come watch a game or two. Have a great long weekend, be safe and I'll see you on Wednesday. Love you! XOXOXO
